The 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held at the Grand Arena in Accra, Ghana, has introduced Gyakie as the winner of the Record of the Year category. Gyakie, who rose to reputation with her hit single “Forever,” received the award for her music “Far Away.” The category acknowledges the pleasant universal single recording of the 12 months in terms of its popularity, essential acclaim, and impact on the music industry.



Gyakie’s “Far Away” competed towards other top notch songs such as King Promise’s “Yaa Asantewaa,” Sarkodie’s “Countryside” featuring Black Sherif, Stonebwoy’s “Therapy,” Adomaa’s “Beginning Again,” and Perez Musik’s “Hewale Lala.”



The award was once introduced to Gyakie via Ghanaian-American comedian and actor Michael Blackson, who was the host for the night. Upon receiving the award, Gyakie expressed her gratitude and thanked her fans for their support.



The VGMA is an annual tournament that acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of Ghanaian musicians and their contribution to the boom of the music industry.
