Widow of late brother of Cecilia Dapaah to sue over alleged stolen $800,000

In a brave move, Irene Cansah, the widow of Cecilia Dapaah's late brother and former Sanitation and Water Resources Minister, has attempted to collect an alleged $800,000 from the estate of her late husband.Madam Cansah plans to file a lawsuit to recover the lost monies after the troubled lawmaker found herself at the heart of a scandal about them.Madam Irene Cansah disclosed that she had no idea that her late husband, Nana Akwasi Essan II, a former Asante chief who passed away in 2022, had left behind money.

Experienced writer Paul Adom-Otchere defended Cecilia Dapaah, claiming that $800,000 of the allegedly stolen $1 million actually belonged to her deceased brother.

Adom-Otchere stated that the lost money consisted of $200,000 that belonged to Cecilia Dapaah and an extra 300,000 euros that truly belonged to her husband, Daniel Osei Kufour, during a segment on his show "Good Evening Ghana" on Metro TV.Significant public discussion on the topic was spurred by the journalist's defense, with differing viewpoints expressed. But in light of these disclosures, Madam Cansah is now looking for legal action to retrieve the cash she feels should be her late husband's fortune.

Madam Irene Cansah said in an interview with Kumasi-based Sompa FM, "The money issue you are talking about, I know nothing about it. Like everyone else, I read about it in the news. If there is actually such money available, it must be provided to me according to the law. My attorney has promised to bring a lawsuit.

The controversy surrounding the missing money from Cecilia Dapaah's house has subjected the former sanitation minister to intense scrutiny and criticism. The public is eagerly awaiting more information as the situation develops.
The ongoing situation has become even more complicated as a result of Madam Cansah's decision to file a lawsuit, and it is unclear how the legal proceedings will develop. Her late spouse left behind an estate that has not yet been fully established, and the alleged $800,000 is a significant factor in how assets are distributed.
The court struggle and Cecilia Dapaah's response will continue to draw attention as the case develops. The fact that the public is interested in the situation is evidence of how crucial accountability and openness are in situations involving public officials and their financial concerns.
