Six persons including 3 soldiers sentenced to death by hanging for high treason

Three soldiers and six other people have been found guilty of high treason and sentenced to death by hanging.

They were found guilty on Wednesday afternoon by the Accra High Court of conspiring to topple the government.
They are fleet manager Bright Alan Debrah Ofosu and blacksmith Donya Kafui, also known as Ezor.

While Johannes Zikpi, a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces, was convicted guilty of conspiracy to commit high treason, the other defendants were found guilty of conspiracy to commit treason and treason.

The three soldiers—Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, Corporal Sylvester Akanpewon, and Warrant Officer II Esther Saan Dekuwine—were found guilty of high treason conspiracy.

Nonetheless, the three-member court panel cleared two senior security guards and one soldier after they were found not guilty. 

Col. Samuel Kodzo Gameli and Dr. Benjamin Agordzo, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), were acquitted of aiding and abetting high treason, while Corporal Seidu Abubakar was acquitted of conspiring to commit treason and high treason.
