Victoria College awarded scholarships to 50 students who commute from rural counties

The Ellucian Foundation has chosen Victoria College as a winner of the Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) Scholarship grant program for 2023 in order to assist students who are experiencing financial difficulties.

50 academic and transfer students will receive transportation assistance grants from VC during the Fall 2023 semester thanks to a $10,000 grant that was managed by the VC Foundation.

Since nearly half of VC's students commute from rural regions, some find the cost of transportation to be prohibitive.

Bobby Cubriel, VC Director of Advising, Counseling, & Support Services, stated that "when students consider whether or not they can afford college, transportation costs can mean the difference between enrolling or sitting out a whole semester."

"Gas cards, grants, and scholarships can be a real game changer for students who commute long distances from rural counties in terms of financial assistance."

In addition to the financing already in place for commuter vocational and technical students, VC was able to provide support for transportation expenditures to its academic and transfer students thanks to the PATH Scholarship grant.

Amy Mundy, Executive Director of Advancement & the VC Foundation, said, "Victoria College is honored to be recognized for our commitment to student success, and we appreciate the Ellucian Foundation's investment in our VC community.

Top provider of technology solutions for higher education, Ellucian, launched the PATH Scholarship program in 2020.

More than $2 million in grants have been given by the program since its start to help students at public two-year colleges around the country.

According to Laura Ipsen, President and CEO of Ellucian, "two-year public colleges are at the heart of the US higher education system, serving as educational and career launchpads for students by providing critical skills and access to a wide range of learners.

" In order to help these students stay in school and acquire the skills that are essential to our workforce and society, we must remove the barriers that stand in their way.

By means of the PATH Scholarship initiative, we are committed to funding
