Afua Asantewaa's Guinness World Record Sing-a-thon attempt unsuccessful

The valiant attempt by broadcast journalist Afua Asantewaa Aduonum to set a Guinness World Record for the longest solo singing marathon failed.

In December 2023, Mrs. Aduonum began the endeavor with the goal of breaking the record held by Indian Sunil Waghmare, who sang for a remarkable 105 hours between March 3 and March 7, 2012. (Afua Asantewaa applies for the Guinness Book of Records using sing-a-thon evidence.)

She was determined, but her attempt was unsuccessful, and she was not eligible to win the coveted championship.

The official Guinness World Records social media handle shared a statement announcing Asantewaa's disqualification.
While expressing sadness that her endeavor did not satisfy the required standards for success, the statement also urged her to think about breaking records in the future.

The statement said, in part: "We hope that Afua will try again soon, but we are disappointed that her attempt to set a record for the longest singing marathon was unsuccessful. We have observed how motivating it has been for her followers."
